Hokies await top-15 matchup versus Wahoos

Tech travels to Charlottesville for 2021 Commonwealth Clash

BLACKSBURG -- The No. 15/15 Virginia Tech swim and dive team will be traveling to Charlottesville Friday to take on in-state foe, No. 2/10 Virginia with diving beginning at 4 p.m Friday and swimming at 11 a.m Saturday with coverage available through ACC Network Extra.

IN THE RANKINGS

Both the men's and women's squad are ranked 15th in the current CSCAA TYR Top-25 poll. Virginia's men's squad is ranked 10th and the women sit at second in the rankings.
 
HISTORY
 
The Hokie men were victorious in the 2020 Commonwealth Clash in Blacksburg defeating 15th-ranked Virginia 158-141. The women came up short against the 3rd-ranked 'Hoos 111-186.
 
LAST TIME OUT

Noah Zawadzki qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones for platform earlier this week against North Carolina, crushing the qualifying score by 90 points.
 
Antani Ivanov dominated in the UNC Invitational earning first place in the 100 fly A finals (46.18) and second place in the 200 fly A finals (1:41.73).
 
AJ Pouch, who was just named a member of the 2021 USA Junior National Team, claimed second place in the 200 breast A finals (1:56.75) and fourth place in the 100 breast A finals (53.78) at the UNC Invitational.
 
 
Hokie Women
Izzi Mroz qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones for platform along with Zawadzki against North Carolina.
 
Reka Gyorgy had an impressive performance all around at the UNC Invite claiming first place in the 400 IM A finals (4:09.34), third in the 200 fly A finals (1:57.90), and fourth in the 500 free A finals (4:46.53)
 
Freshman Chase Travis was named a member of the 2021 USA Junior National team. At the UNC Invite, Travis placed second in both the 500 free A finals (4:44.55) and the 1650 free A finals (16:09.30).
